Our Classes
Weekly Classes
From Sept-June we gather weekly to study the 7 elements of visual art (line, form, shape, value, colour, texture and space) in a fun, relaxed, and supportive studio environment. Students bring in their unique ideas and inspiration and are guided through the techniques and processes necessarry to achieve their vision. We primarily focus on drawing and acrylic painting on canvas but explore other mediums such as printmaking, collage, clay, and pâpiér-mache. Everyone works on their own project and at their own pace and skill level. We balance process orientated learning and product orientated learning so that students can develop their artistic voice both by exploring materials and by understanding the fundamental building blocks of art. Ultimately our goal is to support these young creatives in becoming confident, inquisitive, self-directed artists. For ages 6-18. Students are responsible for their core art supplies (brushes, paints, canvas’) valued at approx $370. The studio provides all additional material.

Meet the Instructor
Linda!
Rebecca!
Hello! My name is Rebecca Jones and I am an artist, instructor, small business owner, and mama.
I studied fine arts at Emily Carr but mainly developed my artistic skills by pestering my mother, local artist Linda Jones, from a very young age. I have been working with and teaching children in a variety of roles for over 25 years; teaching private art lessons and being an artist in residence at an elementary school, supporting Neurodivergent students as an Education Assistant, teaching children’s yoga, working in ECE, as a nanny, and I am also a step/parent. I enjoy meeting students where they are at and walking them through the highs and lows of the creative process to delight in the medium and at their own abilities. It’s an awesome job, I feel very lucky, and I love it.
I am very honoured to be stewarding the art school that Linda has single-handedly built over the past 40 years. Not to worry, not only did she mentor me from birth, she also taught me how to make her famous hot chocolate!
In the rare moments that I am not teaching, making something, or enjoying family life, I can be found visiting natural areas learning about and admiring our local plants and wildlife
